Slardar Guide

 

Slardar – Slithereen Guard

Sprint [T]
Slardar increases his movement speed dramatically, but takes 10% bonus damage. Lasts 25 seconds.
Level 1 - Increases speed by 10%.
Level 2 - Increases speed by 20%.
Level 3 - Increases speed by 30%.
Level 4 - Increases speed by 40%.
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 45

Slithereen Crush [R]
Slams the ground, stunning and damaging enemy land units 350 AoE around Slardar. Slows enemy units by 20% for 2 seconds afterwards.
Level 1 - 50 damage, 1 second stun.
Level 2 - 100 damage, 1.5 second stun.
Level 3 - 150 damage, 2 second stun.
Level 4 - 200 damage, 2.5 second stun.
Mana Cost: 80/ 95/ 105/ 115
Cooldown: 8

Bash
Gives a chance that an attack will do bonus damage and stun an opponent for 1 second.
Level 1 - 10% chance per attack, 40 bonus damage.
Level 2 - 15% chance per attack, 50 bonus damage.
Level 3 - 20% chance per attack, 60 bonus damage.
Level 4 - 25% chance per attack, 70 bonus damage.

Amplify Damage [G]
Amplifies physical damage against enemy units by reducing their armor. Lasts 120 seconds on creeps and 30 secondes on heroes. Can track invisible units.
Level 1 - 5 armor penalty.
Level 2 - 10 armor penalty.
Level 3 - 15 armor penalty.
Mana Cost: 25
Cooldown: 10

Get bottle if you think you are going to be ganking alot, for survivability and rune whoring.otherwise get tangos and clarity potion so you can spam your abilities early game.

Bracers – Amazing item, they give alot of health so you can survive early game, also provides damage and some mana for moves. get 2.

Core Items

Both are a good choice. But after the .63 update Phase Boots take the lead giving you attack speed and damage. The extra speed from Power Treads isnt that useful because of sprint.

Satanic is an AMAZING item for Slardar. Strength, Damage, Health, and life-steal. need i say more?

Assault Cuirass is another great item for Slardar, the attack speed works with Bash and the armor reduc works with Amplify Damage

Situational Items / Luxury Items

Got the money for it? why not go for the extra damage and armor reduction.

Need an initiator? Slardar is a terrifying thing to see slithering towards you. think about what will happen if you just appeared right next to them.

Slardar will become a farming maniac.

Armor, Damage, and life-steal. Every hero can benefit from this item including you.

Playing Slardar

Slardar is a Ganker, Chaser, and somewhat of an Initiator.

What slardar is not (well until end game) is a tank, and should not be played like one.

Slardar can be used as a roamer after he hits 6+ and help to gank other lanes.

Slithereen Crush
this should be your bread and butter move, use it to stun heroes and just keep bashing them with your trident, they will be dead in no time.

Sprint
This skill can be used to chase, or run away. Its makes slardar one of the fastest heroes in the game therefore either making it impossible to escape from, or impossible to chase down. Also provides alot of manuverablity around the map, making him a good roamer.

Bash
This skill should not be gotten until you are a higher lvl, reason being that it is directly affected by your attack speed and therefore should be gotten after you have items like AC and PB

Amplify Damage
Slardar’s ult not only allows you to do more damage to a unit (like svens ult) but the whole entire team. It also tracks and shows invisible units, making Riki and Bounty Hunter almost useless.

 

Armor Caclulation

Decided to make a armor calculator and do some mathcrafth for some 2v2 teams i was coming up with, heres what i got.

Damage Reduction (Positive Armor)
([Armor]*0.06)/(1+([armor]*.06)
Since the bottom will ALWAS be larger than the top it can never reach 100%. even with 5000 armor the damage reduction is still 99.98%

Damage Amplification (Negative Armor)
2-0.94^[-armor]
This is also a limit, it will max out at 200% yet never reach it.

10=37.5%
15=47.37%
20=54.55%

Negative Values (Extra Damage Done to Unit.)
0=0%
-5=126.61%
-10=146.14%
-15=160.47%
-20=170.99%
